Elevate Ensemble’s 2017/18 season brings you exciting premieres by composer-in-residence Julie Barwick, innovative music from composers across the US and abroad, the chance to hear a rarely performed Schoenberg masterpiece—and of course plenty of opportunities for food, drink, stimulating conversation and more.

Season at a Glance

Stravinsky Legacy — Oct 7, 2017, 8:00pm
Stravinsky’s quirky, offbeat Soldier’s Tale has been inspiring composers and audiences alike since its 1918 premiere. Come hear the lilting melodies of the original along with two pieces that pay tribute!

Pedal to the Metal — Dec 9, 2017, 8:00pm
Come hear an all-brass program in a unique art studio that features one-of-a-kind views of SF’s elevated freeways. The evening will be filled with delicious hors d’oeuvres, an open bar, and a program of inspiring music—all while watching the city zooming by.

Old Girls Club — Mar 10, 2018, 8:00pm
We’re excited to perform this all-female program, featuring music by a handful of the many innovative women composers who deserve to be heard more broadly, presented in conjunction with curator Emma Logan at the Center for New Music.

Transformations — May 19, 2018, 8:00pm
Come hear a piece that changed music forever. Arnold Schoenberg’s pivotal Chamber Symphony was one of the first to blur the line between tonality and atonality. It also transformed the concept of the chamber orchestra.
